Type II Error

Suggesting an event did not happen, when it in fact did.

The error that occurs when a decision is made that an event did not happen when the true state of nature is that the event did happen (a “false negative” result, usually represented by β). Quantified by the power of a test, and can be thought of as a failure of opportunity.
