Moment

A specific type of extracted parameter from a random variable distribution.

Taken together, the set of all moments of a statistical distribution can be used as an alternative description of the distribution, much like a Taylor series approximation of a general function.

Technical point: loosely, the nth moment is the expectation of Xn across a given probability distribution.
