The consistency of repeated measurements, regardless of how close measurements are to the actual or true value (usually presented as a standard deviation from the mean). Often confounded with repeatability and accuracy.
The figure shows a case where three archers are each individually precise and repeatable, but none are accurate. Taken together as a set of 12 arrows, the three archers are not reproducible (they all give different results), the set is less precise than the individuals (it has a larger standard deviation), and the set is more accurate than the individuals (it is centered closer to the true mean).
